On Friday night, my Stampin' Up! team had a Christmas In July dinner. We each made one card as a kind of swap. This is the card I made and one of the stamp and stack cards in my next class. The Window Dressing stamp set has some great stamps for watercolouring.

Cardstock: Old Olive, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Old Olive
Stamp Sets: Window Dressing Level 3 hostess set, Pocket Silhouettes
Other: Stamp-a-ma-jig, Pastels, Blender Pens

A Very Close Second

This is Lena's entry to my colour challenge. You can see why I had such a hard time deciding on the winner. Lena has only been making cards for a few months, which makes this card even more impressive.

We have a Winner

Those of you who receive my monthly newsletter (send me an email to subscribe) will know about my June 2009 colour challenge. The colours were Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Riding Hood Red and Very Vanilla.

It was a tough choice between the great entries I received, but there can only be one winner and I think this month, the most deserving card was created by Vanessa.

Congratulations Vanessa, I hope you enjoy your new stamps.

I will show you some more entries in the next few days.

When I'm stuck for colours, I like to look at the colour schemes used in the Designer Series Patterned Papers. For this card, I started out by looking at the Raspberry Tart set of paper and added Whisper White and Chocolate Chip. We made this card at my class yesterday afternoon.

Cardstock: Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: Cameo Coral, Rose Red
Punches: Corner Rounder, Small Oval, Large Oval
Other: Dauber, Paper Piercing

Where does the time go? I just realised it's been nearly 2 weeks since my last post, so sorry I've been such a bad blogger.

This is one of the cards I'll be showing at my class next Saturday. It uses one of my favourite sets, Garden Whimsy on page 85 of the Idea Book and Catalogue. There are so many options in this set. I've decided to mix and match a couple of Earth Elements colours with a Rich Regals colour and I'm happy with the way they all suit each other.

Stamp Set: Garden Whimsy
Cardstock: Garden Green, Bravo Burgundy, More Mustard, Very Vanilla
Markers: Garden Green, More Mustard
Ink: Garden Green
Punches: Large Oval, Designer Label, Eyelet Border
Accessories: Dauber, Basic Grey Taffeta Ribbon

May 2009 Challenge

Marelle Taylor, my upline has put a challenge on her blog.
The challenge, if you choose to accept it (LOL) is to copy a card from the current Idea Book and Catalogue (IBC) and then make another card using a different stamp set and colour combination but using the same layout.
I've copied this card from Page 157. I've tried to match it as much as possible. It uses A Rose is A Rose Stamp Set and Bella's Border wheel. The card in the IBC uses Kraft cardstock, but I've used Sahara Sand instead. Everything else is pretty close though.

The second card is the same layout with a couple of small changes. I've used Priceless and Heartfelt Thanks Stamp Sets; Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Sahara Sand and Whisper White cardstock; Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette ink, Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon and the Pretties Kit.

So, go ahead, use the IBC for it's main intended purpose (to give ideas) and make a card that looks completely different! It's so much fun.

I hope all the mums out there had a wonderful mother's day on Sunday and hopefully you could sleep in and enjoy the day.
I made this card for my husband's grandma who lives in Canberra. We saw her the weekend before last, but unfortunately, couldn't be with her on Mother's day.
I wanted to use some of my goodies from the new Idea Book and I wanted a very bright, happy card with a touch of bling, so hopefully, this card brought some cheer to a dear grandma.
Stamp Set: Pocket Silhouettes
Card: Perfect Plum, Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery
Ink: Riding Hood Red
Ribbon: Certainly Celery wide Grosgrain Ribbon
Accessories: Chunky Glitter, Pretties Kit, Eyelet border punch
